Dental Implants

Procedures

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves one surgical procedure. In some cases, the implant can be placed the same day as the extraction. Then while the socket heals, the implant bonds to the bone, saving several months of healing time. If needed, your dentist will prepare a

temporary tooth or teeth to wear during the healing phase. Most patients can return to work or their daily routine the same day or the next day with littlediscomfort.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone in six to twelve weeks, the restorative phase begins. We will check the implant and in most cases, add an extension that is called an abutment. Then your dentist will take an impression and begin to fabricate the replacement teeth. In all esthetic situations, there will be temporary teeth so most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
